Stu is aghast at all this carnage. It reminds him of the sort of thing that people in Boulder believed was going on in Las Vegas after the world ended. When he was told the mission, originally, he was resistant to stealing, even if it was from a soulless corporation. But now? He’s ready to fight to get that slipper.
He knows who his teammate is in this venture, and when it seems like the opportune moment Stu gives his partner a little nod. It’s time to fight.
And then Stu strikes out at the first guard who’s nearby, a punch directly to the face that is calculated to at least knock the guard off balance if nothing else, but should actually knock him out, if Stu’s placement of the punch is just right.
b. the great white hunters —
Stu knows it’s too late to save the life of the person whose heart is in the cooler. He had been keeping an eye out for Huntsmen at the borders of the park, but hadn’t caught one in the act. He only spots the man once he’s approaching the center of the park with a cooler.
“Damn,” he mutters, beginning to follow. He doesn’t know if this particular mission is being attended to by another New Hire, but he does know that if any of them are around as he enters the castle, they had better make themselves known to him. He doesn’t want to fight off someone that’s meant to be on his side because of them being unknown to one another.
